Apple Harvest Day

  • Central Avenue Dover, NH (map)

Apple Harvest Day is an annual event in my hometown of Dover, NH. Downtown streets fill with craft vendors, live music, and activities to celebrate the start of fall. I grew up going to the festival every year, and it’s grown in size significantly since I was a kid. This year, my sister is the President of Dover’s Chamber of Commerce, the organization that puts on the event.

Highlights:

  • Meeting my friends’ 3-month-old baby, Fiona!

  • Watching a huge tortoise roam around Henry Law Park

  • Apple Baklava from the Gyro Spot. Oh my gawd so good.

  • New candy and ice cream shop, Lickee’s and Chewy’s, was crazy busy!

  • So. Many. Dogs. Where did all these dogs come from?

  • Someone in a Woodman Museum polar bear suit

Fun fact: Apple Harvest Day used to include a duck race, which involved dumping a truckload of rubber ducks into the Cocheco River. When I was four-years-old, my family won a trip to Disney World when our rubber duck came in second place.
