Boston Whale Watch

  • 1 Long Wharf Boston, MA (map)

There’s a humpback whale named Spoon who lives in the sea. This brings me joy.

What else I learned on this Boston Whale Watch:

  • Humpback whales are solitary individuals but sometimes form long-term “associations.” The longest recorded association was between two female whales who hung out together for six years. My mind immediately wants there to be lesbian whales but this is not scientific fact.

  • A whale tail is called a “fluke.”

  • Dolphins exist off the New England coast! We saw a large pod of Atlantic white-sided dolphins in a feeding frenzy with some diving gannets! Unexpected and awesome!
