Aisha and I spent a lovely end-of-summer Sunday morning climbing Blue Job Mountain in Farmington (or Strafford?) New Hampshire. At the start of the hiking trail, we took a right onto the Fire Tower Loop, which turned out to be the steep and short way up. We arrived at the summit in under 30 minutes. On the mountain there’s a little fire tower with narrow stairs to climb.
At the top of the fire tower, we discovered scenic views, bees, and a park ranger who invited us up into his little fire watch area. Usually that part of the tower is closed, so it was kinda cool to see how the fire tower actually functions.
The way back down Blue Job was longer and less steep. We passed by a few fellow hikers and dogs. All were very friendly. The full loop is about 1.2 miles. (0.5 m up, 0.7 m down).
The drive from Strafford to Dover was also pretty and scenic, lots of back roads with farms and trees on the edge of autumn.
